It's our 15 Anniversary at 758 Bathurst St this November as a company, and we have some updates for you...
Last month, we got several notices from the construction site at Mirvish Village, expecting longer delays that will stretch for at least another year. We also got news very recently that the heritage building next to us needs to be demolished after a structural integrity review by the city, which will significantly impact our building for the coming years.
We’ve been anticipating the reopening of Mirvish Village for the last couple years and we were eager for this neighborhood to regain its retail energy with foot traffic to keep fueling our market. Instead, It has kept being delayed and we are now faced with the realization that it might be quite some time until it's actually finished.
With that to consider, in a bittersweet decision, we feel it’s best to concentrate our efforts on the Alternity location (333 Bloor St W) to provide the most complete experience for the community and CLOSE down Alternative Thinking!
Our Eco Market at Bathurst St has filled up with the most remarkable local vendors over the last year, but with the recent light of further delays and more construction projects commencing, it has become clear that the Mirvish Village charm might take much longer to reestablish than previously anticipated.
We deeply appreciate the history of Alternative Thinking and its significant role it served to the community for the last 15 years. We are beyond grateful for our collective journey for this wonderous space and are excited to amplify the vibe even more at Alternity hub, the evolution of our company and brand. Alternity is quickly gaining ground as the nexus for alternative culture in the heart of Toronto and we’re very pleased at the direction it is heading…
We want to thank everyone for their contributions and heartfelt support throughout the years of construction and for continuous encouragement to keep operating as a market. We truly had a great time thus far with this lively space on Bathurst, a beacon of inspiration for the evolving alternative culture. We accumulated a lifetime’s worth of memories that we will continue to cherish for years to come.
